June 20, 2013 (Vietnamica) – World giant mobile phone producers Nokia and Samsung reportedly sweat over refusing Vietnamese low-skilled applicants. VnExpress (Jun. 20) reported that Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) received more than 20,000 job applications but 3,000 were qualified for consideration. SEV then recruited only 1,200 low-skilled workers. Meanwhile, Nokia received about 10,000 applications and had to work hard on finding out qualified candidates. In addition, the producers are not able to employ local skilled workers and engineers. A Korean source told Vietnamica that Samsung has no choice but to accept the cost of an unstable workforce.
